Music with Media

MUSIC WITH MEDIA

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all having a great day.  In today's post, I am going to show you some fun apps you can use to add music to your photos and videos.  Again, like other posts, these are all free apps from iTunes and Google Play.

Shuttersong allows you to add music to the photo you would like to post to your social media site such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp...
Though this is a free app, there are in-app purchasing opportunities but I have not seen the necessity.

After making an account (name and password), press the rainbow at the bottom of the screen, and choose if you would like to use an existing photo or take a new photo.  You can then either add music or record your voice.  Using the arrows your can select where in the song you want to use and for how long.  Once you are done, press 'done' and it is now saved to your phone.  I found posting directly from the site a bit confusing.  It was easier to save it to my library and post from there.

On the home button, you can press the clip you just made.  Press the ... and edit or delete if you want.

If you like, you can join a community, get followers, earn points for rewards etc but to be honest, I have other things to do with my time.  :)

This is an easy, fun and unique way to share your photos.

Check out my Instagram account to see the Nutella photo with music I uploaded.

Nutella

Sounds. app is another app for photos.  This apps gives you free musical choices, ability to choose from Spotify, iTunes store or your own library.

First choose your music then press the Instagram icon.  Press 'Edit and share'.  At the top of the screen, press the camera icon and choose a photo and you are done.  This app allows you to use videos too but you have to 'Invite a friend' first to unlock it.  I have not tried this.

Here is a photo of my dog, Baci, after a long run.

Tired Dog

Flipogram allows you to make a slideshow with multiple photos (or a video) and put music behind it.  First press the + icon at the bottom.  Select photos (or video) and press Next.  You can edit speed, add music or voice narration, filters, and post.  Easiest of the bunch!!

Here is a Flipogram I made just before Thanksgiving : Feeling Grateful  and one I made during a beautiful fall run:  Nine Shades of Red

You get the idea...

Audio Video Mixer puts music behind your videos.

Press the + to 'Add video' from your library.  Press Choose, then 'Next and then add music.  Click on 'Merge' and it is now successfully in your phone library to post as you like.

Lots of ads on this site.  Though it is a bit annoying, it has a fun effect.

Check out Shake It Off for a laugh and a demonstration.

Ok, last one for today...

Here is another audio Video Mixer which uses your videos and puts music behind it but also allows you to add some neat effects.

No account needed but like the one above, too many adds that you need to constantly wait for and ignore.

Tap to create a new project, choose portrait (free), click on the video icon to choose a prerecorded video in your library.  Choosing effects is fun but at the same time a bit frustrating because many need the in-app purchase of the upgrade.

Have fun experimenting with your music, photos and videos.

Photo Layouts

FUN FREE PHOTO LAYOUTS FOR INSTAGRAM

Here are two of my favorite free photography apps for Instagram and your photo album.

InstaCollage:

InstaCollage is very easy to use.  Simply download the free app from iTunes onto your mobile device.  On the side bar, you choose how many photos you want to use from your photo album.
There are various ways to make those photos (even it is just one) into fun and fast collages.
On the top bar you can choose which effect you would like to use.  You can then add backgrounds, borders, effects, text, and stickers.
This app is very easy to use and self explanatory.

After creating your collage, you press the save button and can either just keep it in your photo gallery of your phone OR post it directly to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or email it out.

Here is one demonstrating the Pinboard effect adding a background and text with two photos.

This one desmonstrates one of the Art 3D
backgrounds.

This one shows a 'Poster' effect.

Instablend:

Instablend is also a free app from iTunes.  This one has a lot of ads and asks to purchase the upgraded version though quite regularly.  There is a lot you can do without the upgrade.

Instablend takes two photos and superimposes them onto each other.  Cool!

You choose two photos from your photo gallery (one for the forfront one for the background, and Instablend puts them together.  As with other apps, you can add borders, text and effects.

Have fun and don't forget to #jennXsocialmedia so I can see what you have created.

As always, please leave a comment to let me know what you would like to see and don't forget to follow this Blog for more fun techniques.

Social Media Part 2

SOCIAL MEDIA
 2.0

As promised, here is part two of of Social Media 101.
What is Etsy, Tumblr and Pintrest and who uses them?

Etsy:

Etsy is an online shopping resource centre for crafters and consumers.  Anyone is eligible to sell, buy or just look around. Popular brands are usually not sold on this website but can sometimes be found.

Items that are sold on Etsy are usually high quality handmade products that are unique and fun.  They vary from jewelry, home decor (such as pillows, rugs, wall decorations), cell phone cases, to clothing and toys.

Very easy to purchase items as well as make wish lists to save and email for later use.
You do not need to sign up for this site.

One competition to Etsy is Amazon.

Check it out here: Etsy

Pintrest:

Pintrest is a virtual cork/pin board.  You can like, re-post, create and learn from each post.  There are various categories: Popular, Gifts, Animals and pets, Architecture, Design, Food and drink, Gardening and Humor to list just a few.

Pintrest is similar to looking through a magazine or catalog rather than a social network, though you can have followers and create specific boards.
Pintrest posts can inspire people either through motivational quotes (if that is what you are looking for) or specifically how to do a specific thing: set the perfect fall table for a dinner party or bake a pumpkin spice pull apart bread (I tired it and it was delicious!).

You can scroll through the photos like a magazine but if there is a photo that captures your interest (example a great photo of a decorative cupcake), you click on it, it will take you to the site that shows you how to make it or the catering company that can bring it!  If there is a garden you click on, it will take you to the landscaping website that designed it or tell you what the plants are.

Pintrest can automatically link your photo to your website.

It is a great way to relax, laugh, advertise or learn from.
You need to sign in to this account.

Check it out here: Pintrest

Tumblr:

Tumblr is similar to Pintrest in that it is a way to collect photos, gifs (short videos) and post them in one place.  Similar to Instagram, you can use hashtags (#).  Here the content you would like to post needs to be uploaded manually and you can write about it like a blog.  This is called "microblogging". Tumblr does not create the direct links like Pintrest does.

Check out Tumblr here:  Tumblr

So why use one over another?  or use them all?

It is not a question of which is better, but the more exposure you have, the chances are you will reach a larger audience.

Next Blog:  Fun free websites that support Instagram.

Social Media 101

SOCIAL MEDIA 101

There are many questions about what the differences are in the social media platforms.  I thought I would present them to you so you can understand some of the basic differences between FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, and Blogs.  There are others, such as Pintrest, Etsy and Snapchat that I will discuss another time.

FaceBook:

Facebook was launched on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his friends so that Harvard university students could stay in touch with one another.  It now is the world's largest social media platform.  It used to be mainly used by students and younger teenagers but once the parents caught on to how much fun it was (and to keep an eye on their kids) the kids left to use SnapChat (we will leave that one for now) and left FB to us!

Here you can post photos, videos, and links to articles.  There is no character limit to how much you write or post.
You can ask people to 'friend' you which means they will follow you and see new items you post.  You can have as much privacy as you like adding and showing only to those you wish.
You can 'like' or 'comment' on other people's posting too.

Instagram:

Funny... Instagram is owned by FaceBook.  Instagram is the latest and hottest social platform in social media right now.  This site is all about photos.  It is the best way (in my opinion) to get your product/service seen.  Simply, post a photo, write a catchy subtitle or description, then link it to hashtags (#'s) so anyone surfing a theme or word with that #, will find your photo and learn about who you are.  I recently purchased a birthday cake for my son because of a great photo I stumbled upon.

You can also leave private messages for people using the '@' sign (I actually chatted with Bryan Adams!).  Again, you can receive followers and follow others and receive 'likes'.

You can join me on Instagram at: @jennb001

Twitter:

Twitter is a site that allows you to post thoughts, information and articles that are of interest to you and your 'followers' in 'real time'.  These posts are called 'tweets'.  Some feel that the 140 characters is very constraining (especially because photos and links take up some your characters) but I see it as a creative challenge!
You can retweet someone else's tweet, you can follow and be followed.
Again, there is an opportunity to speak directly with companies and people using the @ symbol.  I have provided feedback to companies directly when I was either satisfied or unsatisfied and heard back from them within a day.  This reinforced a positive customer service experience.

You can join me on twitter at: @mytime0101

BLOGS

Blogs are a great way to meet the person behind the company.  If you are an artist, post a picture of your latest work and talk about the inspiration.  Show many photos of the work in progress.   It is similar to an electronic diary but more.  You can post photos, and use the blog to link it to your website, instagram, facebook, and twitter accounts.  You can also create links to other's in your industry.
When someone subscribes to your blog, each time you write a new blog, they will automatically get it in their email inbox.

The possibilities are endless!!

Each site is different and requires a different amount of time to maintain.  Some you could post to daily, weekly or monthly.  There is a balance of keeping up with what your followers expect of you without over doing it.

Too much, you over saturate their feeds and it feels like spam, too little and they will unfollow you and forget about you and move on to your competition.

One last important piece to mention...

Even though each of these platforms serves a different purpose, they are all important to link your business to the outside world.

Hello World!

Hello World!

Here I am!  JennX (JennerationX)

The world is what I am reaching for.
Not the moon or the stars

but others in this world looking for your service/product.

WHO I AM

I am a Generation X:  born in the years that are described as 'turmoil and uncertainty' (1965-1984) which makes sense that I ended up a social worker and a mother of three.

I have moved away from social work and have developed the expertise to help you with your social media needs to increase your visibility in the competitive world.

WHY?

Stress is a key component for entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses because social media can seem daunting as well as time consuming.

animated-clock-image-0023

The solution is similar to the work I did as a social worker: identify the problem and be creative in working through it to find new possibilities and growth.

MY NEW ROLE

Assisting with the platforms needed to create the change for new opportunity and growth all the while understanding the stress that can come with new technology.

I can offer solutions and if wanted, maintain the media. I have heard often "What a great idea, I'll get my son/daughter to help me".  Maybe, BUT I will actively converse with you regarding what you want and don't want and I will maintain the work weekly/monthly.  I will devote as much time as you need because you have my entire focus.

What is the benefit of social media to the entrepreneur?

1)      Being found by consumers looking for your product/service via surfing and hashtags

2)      Showing the varieties of your product/service once you are found

3)      Customer service resource

4)      Showing you are current and up to date (like your competition is!)

5)      Bridging the gap of where you are and where you want to be.

HOW?

Providing consultation, design and/or maintenance in:
Website design
Blog
Instagram
Twitter
FaceBook

You can’t grow unless you create the opportunities to grow.
